Productivity During Covid Quarantine
My productivity outside of the (virtual) office has definitely declined during the quarantine as is evident by how I’m posting to this blog less frequently than in the past. Personally, I’ve found it difficult to get motivated enough to work on projects like those I’ve previously written about on this blog. It feels like I’m not as energized and refreshed as I was prior to lockdown. Looking back, I realize that I enjoyed taking some time to relax and refresh, then coming back to my desk and working on projects I found exciting, and with the limits of quarantine, I don’t ever really get to relax and refresh.
I still find those projects exciting, however, like I said, I’m finding it difficult to take the time to work on them when daywork, life, and “free time” all looks so similar. It feels like I’m spending all my energy on being productive during the work day, and have none left for extra projects. It’s been a few months of working from home and quarantine, and I’m still not used to it like I thought I would be. I definitely enjoy not having to commute to the office, but not at the tradeoff of being inside at home for the majority of the day. I’ve been talking with some good friends and mentors about it, and I’ll start a new approach towards working from home, managing my free time, and personal growth. I’ll report back with what worked and what didn’t. Stay tuned!
